I watched this with my friend Erin and as soon as it finished we spent about 10 minutes discussing it and trying to decide whether it was real or not and that is what’s so good about this film. Personally I think it was real but unless somebody involved with the making of it says otherwise I don’t think there’s any way we’ll ever know.

It really highlighted the fact that you don’t know who you’re talking to online. Especially as a Tumblr user, I realised that I interact with hundreds of people every day and, except for a select few who I know in person, I have no idea who most of them are and yet I often share information about where I am and what I’m doing so it’s definitely made me rethink how much I share online.

I really enjoyed Catfish, I think it was mainly because of the mystery around whether it’s real or not. I’d probably watch it again (although I don’t think I’d enjoy it as much a second time round) and I’d recommend it to anybody who spends time online and wants to see an example of how things aren’t always as they seem.

My rating: 9/10
